[info]joannie_mhm
when you bite down into a lolly (mintie, columbine etc) and suddenly worry your teeth will never be released from this vice grip without pulling free from your gums.

is bluelight fucked or is it just me?

Is there a doctor in the house?
[info]joannie_mhm
I feel really weird- basically like I've had a shiteload of codeine, head all fuzzy and dizzy, plus a weird grumbly belly.

It'd be quite nice if I'd actually had some codeine, but it's weirding me out.

"yeah come over for homemade pizza"

best. dinner. ever.
[info]joannie_mhm
If you ever have some spare coin to drop on dinner, consider Forty One at Chifley Towers (suprisingly, it's on level forty two. And there's one in Melbourne too)

James and I went for our anniversary dinner last night, ended up spending about $500 between the 5 course degustation dinner + matched wines, a couple of drinks prior to dinner and a cab home.

It was seriously the best food I have ever had, with one of the best views- floor to cieling glass windows looking out over the harbour, gardens and eastern suburbs.

I can't be bothered going through all of the courses but the dessert, which I almost didn't have because I was so full. Fresh cut strawberries with a passionfruit sorbet- pretty good to begin with, but then they poured a splash of champagne over the whole thing, making the sorbet bubbly and fizzy and just absolutely divine. They also brought us a tray of small hand-made sweets with "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate on the plate.

So. Nice.

(The company and conversation was good too, naturally!)
(And I got a pretty new top to wear. It makes my rack look huge.)

melbourne (said in an american accent. i'm not sure why, but today it is.)
[info]joannie_mhm
So it was good.

First up, apologies if we missed seeing you... basically what happened is we earmarked Saturday night for socialising, and after Pete spoke to a few people we decided we'd get people to go to his place, then we'd head out to a pub somewhere. The first beer was cracked at 11am though, so by the time it got to night-time Jo forgot there were extras she was wanting to see :(

I won't do a detailed run down, no one enjoys that, but essentially there was beer, food, The Espy, The Zoo, a Local, wine, and people... and it was good.

Oh, and cabs are way cheap in Melbourne. Bitches.

i was off 'sick' yesterday.

i had the second part of my review today.

question one- about if you're prompt and reliable and turn up all the time- "there has been some concern raised about the number of sick days taken"

oops.

sometimes i feel the need to breathe in and fill my lungs as far as they will go- to feel them full and pushing against my ribs. there's a particular feeling, like when you poke under one fingernail with another, or push that q-tip into your ear just right, that i just have to get before i can stop. it's weird and sometimes goes towards hyperventilation, but i can't stop until i get it right.

screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeccccccccccccchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh cccccccccrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaassssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

we called the police, but they'd had it reported already, and apparently weren't very interested in the fact that he was hurling arse down our street, obviously at a dangerous speed, before we heard the crash.

we're just hoping he only hit a parked car or something. we heard sirens after a bit but i think it was just police leaving the scene, i'm pretty sure there wasn't ambulance sirens coming in and then out again.

fuckers

A Sydney father told of racing to stop a rock-throwing rampage at fast-moving traffic on the Pacific Highway last night in which at least 15 cars and a semitrailer were damaged and which could easily have proved fatal.

One shocked woman, whose windscreen was shattered right in front of her face, phoned her husband at their nearby home to come and get her - and his car was hit too, Mr Bowie said.

we're going to the rugby tonight- nsw vs qld, so it doesn't even really matter who wins! i will be wearing a red top though.
i haven't been to a domestic rubgy game in about four years, and (though probably none of you will get the comparison- lookweird maybe) ballymore is very different to aussie stadium, so i'm excited.

i got a text from my ex, Kev yesterday. We broke up when I was 18, and a couple of weeks later he started dating one of my friends (though to be fair, we weren't really that close). anyway, it was my first real relationship and i went slightly nutty, and as a result neither of them have really had anything to do with me or a couple of other good friends for the past thee years.
he and i would chat on msn every now and then, and he actually moved to sydney for work in the middle of last year, while she stayed in brisbane. i found out the other day that they broke up when he went home for easter, and lo and behold, he sends me a text yesterday afternoon, Jo, what's doing- we should get boozed! It made me giggle- now that he and Jen are over he's allowed to be friends with me again.
I'm looking forward to seeing him though, he's heaps of fun and i actually think he and James would get along really well.

melbourne people- james and i will be in your fair city May 5-8, so I'd love to catch/meet up with as many of you as I can. i imagine we'll make pops organise something, but let me know if you have any suggestions!

yarni, this is what i was on about the other night: http://www.livejournal.com/portal/

you all missed out

our 'easter' roast
aka 'the roast we happened to cook today which happens to be that day that they all love'

it was FUCKING GOOD.

lamb and herbs and potatoes and carrots and onion and garlic and herbs and olive oil and herbs oh god the herbs.

this was, seriously, one of the best roasts ever.

i love how everyone is all like 'whoa, roast dinner, awesome dude' (those that live in the matrix, naturally)

and all that's involved is: put meat in tray, add herbs and oil. cook. put veges in tray. add oil and herbs. cook.

if you had come to our super sunday roast, you would have loved it.

but i don't blame you for choosing something else.

(i didn't even consider making gravy. gravy is the nectar of teh gods and i had this tray full of meat run off and oil and herbs that would have made the best gravy but it was just so good on its own gravy would have had to just be drunk. hey who am i to judge the gravy drinkers.)
